In this video, after a brief reference to my personal life and how I met the open source Linux operating system in particular, discussed the use of open source within an IT industry in particular, the firm at which I work and analyze what are the advantages and possible disadvantages of using open source products in this particular area of technology and what are the possible advantages and disadvantages of using closed source products.
Finally, a provocation to open source products in the analysis of some fundamental flaws in the current way of working of open source.
Gianluca Del Conte, University of Teramo describes what happened in the world of supercomputing and parallel computing with the advent of open source and, in particular, the possibility that this has to bring the world of the cluster and parallel computing on calculations based on ultra-low hardware cost.
We analyze some open source products for the construction of low-cost cluster based on Linux, including Beowulf and openMosix.
We also analyzed the three types of cluster failover ie, load balancing and high performance computing and the most striking results based on grid computing.
In this second video taken during the event "Open source software and collaborative technologies to share content from shared practices", Raffaele Mastrolonardo, journalist, explains the social and cultural changes at the base of the revolution of Web 2.0 and how that environment impacts on the social practice journalism.
