Another Italian Perl Workshop is past and what previous movies had not yet online. So in addition to the tapes of 2008
have accumulated even those of 2009
Exasperated by this accumulation of material to be dematerialized, I set a good pace and finally inaugurated today, albeit with 465 delays, the online movie last IPW2008 that for self-punishment, is just one of the undersigned on captive portal .
So if you are interested or curious about the Perl, you can look at all the videos of the Italian Perl Workshop 2008. Among the videos that really deserve it, I can not cite to Flavio Poletti on how to build a bot for IRC, one of Tim Bunce, the inventor of DBI on the myths of Perl and of course the 150-minute introductory course on Perl for Gianni Ceccarelli I recommend to all who want to start programming in Perl.
If you're curious about the moments instead "social" event, here's the video of the social dinner attended by many of the speakers of the event.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Pisa was established association Perl.it. I was one of the founding members. Below you see me during the signing of the statute and of incorporation occurred at the inn Orzo Bruno

September 28 Construction of a command line Perl all'IPW2009
As predicted, 22 and October 23, 2009 I will be in Pisa to follow the Italian Perl Workshop. But I will not be there only as passive but also as active as the speech that I had proposed was accepted by the Technical Committee.
I do not know well which of the two days I will keep my talk, but the intervention is based on what I'm currently working on which is the creation of a command line in Perl that can be very useful if you want to build a user interface or less simplified hardware and software. The possibilities offered by Perl, as well as build everything from scratch, assume the use of CPAN modules for which documentation is very inadequate.
The intervention in partiocolare, analizzarà with concrete cases one of these modules: Fry:: Shell
Perl.it and Pisa.pm, in collaboration with IIT-CNR (Institute for Informatics and Telematics of the National Research Center), and under the patronage of the Municipality of Pisa, are organizing the fifth edition of the Italian Perl Workshop.
The conference will be held in Pisa, in the classrooms of the Research Area of CNR on 22-23 October 2009.
The event is non-profit and is the national conference on language Perl and related technologies.
The Workshop aims to be a "get together aimed at all users of Perl, they are professional or amateur, but also to those who approach for the first time in this language and want to know the details, culture, and community surroundings.
The event is free.
For all other details and registration, you can do at the event's official website.
Obviously I'll be there and I also hope to be able to prepare a talk.
September 20 Photos dell'IPW 2008
I just threw on Flickr, the photos that I made with my iPhone during the two very intense days.
My photos of the event you can see in the bookset on the left. Other photos taken by people more professional myself, mainly because of their equipment more appropriate than an iPhone to take pictures, are available, again on Flickr, looking for the TAG IPW2008.
Regarding the event, what to say. Two days really tiring but satisfying with a lot of things learned and many new contacts added. But to appreciate even more the event next year, I realized something: I must improve my English, if not so much spoken, but at least one hearing
Regarding the organization a good ten plus. Pity about the auction in which I failed to grab the kit Dada
.
Now, I can only capture and edit movies to make the talk accessible to the community
Mhh, we say that the deadline is certainly by 2008, be sure

September 17 Italian Perl Workshop 2008
Tomorrow and after tomorrow (18 and 19 September, for those who read me from the future) are all 'IPW2008 in Pisa and as a spectator, for 99% of the time, both as speaker of a quick 40-minute talk about my experience with the systems Captive Portal.
Obviously, the talk will focus more on core functionality of the Captive Portal is implemented in Perl, but said he did not get away from us some little digression on how things work at iptables.

If you are in Pisa in the next two days, you are passionate about computers and programming and you have nothing better to do, the IPW2008 is ideal also because this year, as speakers, there are big names.
No, not myself, but people like Tim Bunce, who is the one that wrote the standard abstract interface for accessing database DBI, as Rafael Garcia-Suarez, which, among other things is the one who wrote the module for inheritance in Perl and Matt Trout author of too many things including various pieces of Catalyst.
And these men are only the top of the iceberg. Many meetings are planned in these two days.
How not to be missed, especially you, young phpisti you would like to make the jump, dropping a language noob and go to the speech of men who do not have to ask MAI (because there is already in the CPAN). And just for you that you have not understood anything about Perl, but at the same time to my speech, it is imperative to follow Gianni Ceccarelli who held a seminar for 150 minutes of introduction to Perl.
After all this, you have no excuse not to use a real programming language.
